Quincke Spinal Needles with Surety Safety Connector

The Blue Box Quincke spinal needle range with Surety safety connector offers economically priced needles which are fully compliant with NHS Patient Safety Alert for non-luer spinal (intrathecal) devices.

The Quincke needles, which are colour coded for easy identification, are manufactured from medical grade stainless steel, and are now available via the NHS Supply Chain.

Please see our Quincke Spinal Needles with Surety product sheet for further information and ordering codes.

Atraumatic Spinal Needles with Surety Safety Connector

We have now started to launch our Atraumatic spinal needles with Surety, beginning with the popular 25G needle in both 90mm and 103mm lengths. Manufactured to the same high quality as the luer version, the safer spinal needles with Surety still have colour coding on the stylet hub and packaging for ease of identification. An added benefit is the new, shorter, ergonomic introducer hub which offers a longer usable length of needle but, more importantly, it is now fully compliant with the MPSA alert on safer connectors on neuraxial devices as it is completely 'non-connectable'.

The 25G x 90mm and 103mm needles are now available via NHS Supply Chain - other sizes to follow.

Atraumatic Spinal Needle

The atraumatic spinal needles are manufactured from siliconised, medical quality stainless steel to reduce friction when the needle is inserted. An atraumatic, conical-eliptic tip reduces the risk of nerve fibre damage and enhances the 'click' feeling when perforating the dura mater.

In order to reduce patient pain and discomfort, the introducer has a double bevel which allows quick and easy penetration.

Each needle is supplied in an easy-to-open, colour coded blister pack for quick, simple identification of the size of the product. The stylet is fixed in the needle hub with a small 'tongue' to prevent the stylet from falling out of the needle, even in a vertical position, and a 360 degree magnifying window in the hub allows quicker recognition of spinal fluid. Please see our Atraumatic Spinal Needle product sheet for further information.

Micro-Tip Spinal Needle

Manufactured from siliconised, medical quality stainless steel, the new 'dual diameter' design micro-tip spinal needle combines the stiffness of a large gauge needle with a smaller tip. Greater internal diameter along most of the needle length improves ease of injection, and centimetre marking on the needle tubing improves perception of the depth of penetration.

The atraumatic, conical-elliptic flexible needle tip reduces the risk of injury as it has been designed to bend 180 degrees without breaking. Quick flush-back of spinal fluid reduces technique failure, and the double colour code on the stylet hub reminds the user of the double diameter of the needle. Please see our Micro-Tip Spinal Needle product sheet for further information.

Spinal Needle with Quincke Bevel

Siliconised, medical stainless steel reduces friction when inserting the needle, reducing patient pain and discomfort. The stylet fixed in the needle hub with a small 'tongue' prevents the stylet from falling out of the needle, even in a vertical position. The ergonomic hub improves needle guidance.

Colour coding on the stylet hub and easy-to-open blister pack allows rapid identification of the size of the product.
